PARISH OF SAINT GIOVANNI BATTISTA

San Giovanni Battista Capovalle In between 1724 and 1731, the early 15th century chapel was substituted by the existing edifice built by Cristoforo Borri and Domenico Pedazzi. The church contains many artworks. Perhaps, the most important is the altar dedicated to the Madonna, which includes a 16th century painting remembering the coeval Bresciana art and, at the advice of critics, the painting is now attributed to Romanino. In the presbytery, contained in the wooden Boscaì family sculptures, are two paintings attributed to Celesti. On the walls one can see the frescoes portraying San Giovanni Battista in the desert and Erode painted by Vittorio Trainini in 1954. On the first altar to the right, is the Veronese school picture representing Saint Antonio Abate, Saint Rocco and Saint Sebastiano, while on the second altar to the right, is a picture portraying the Madonna Assunta also attributed to Celesti.
The parish church, which has 15th century origins, constitutes the most important sign to the intense … Finally, therein is a notable pipe organ which has been recently subjected to restoration works yet still shows its ancient splendor.

MADONNA OF THE DRY RIVULET/BROOK

Madonna Rio Secco Capovalle The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Rio Secco is secluded in the middle of the woods and is a destination of veneration by the people of the entire valley. The original church, built in 1715 and dedicated to the Madonna of woodcutters and charcoal burners, was enlarged in 1906 by the priest Don Gaudenzio Squaratti, following a plan of the surveyor Marsilio Vaglia. The church was frescoed by the painter G. Mozzoni and inaugurated in 1928.

Chiesetta Alpini Capovalle On the Monte Stino, the Alpini Military Group has built a simple and modern church as a testimony to the faith which challenges the altitudes.
